Listen to Obituary

Susan C. “Sue” Donahue, 79, of Goodland, passed away peacefully in the early morning of January 29, 2026, at her home with her loving daughter by her side.

Sue was born on December 16, 1946, in East Chicago, Indiana, to the late Kenneth and Joyce (Proud) Sheets. She was a 1965 graduate of Goodland High School and married John “Butch” Donahue on September 9, 1972. She started working at Newton County Loan & Savings in 1970 and went on to work there for 40 years before retiring in 2010.

She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Butch, until his passing in February 2025, and was a loving mother to her three children – Dawn “Micki” Pauley, Brian (Brenda) Donahue, and Shelly (Matthew) Anaman, who survive. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Rachael, Dean (Alexis), James (Alexa), Kelsey, and Mary. She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren – Camren, Oakland, Grayson, and James III – who brought her great joy and happiness.

Also surviving are a brother, Todd (Skeet) Sheets; a former neighbor and close friend, Jane Sheets; her “adopted” children, Mike “Spud” Sheets, and Sara (Scott) McGraw, along with several other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Sue was a loving and caring person who opened her heart and home to everyone and had a love for animals and watching her birds. Stray animals somehow found their way to her home and became family pets. She enjoyed her daily cruises around town with her late husband, Butch. She was an avid book reader and kept her mind sharp by working on word search puzzles. She never missed an episode of Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune.

In keeping with Sue’s wishes, the family will host a private memorial to honor her.
