Steve Carden

September 20, 1952 — November 5, 2025

Fowler, IN

Steven “Steve” Paul Carden, 73, passed away on November 5, 2025, at Franciscan Health East after a sudden decline in health.

Born September 20, 1952, to John and Doris June Carden, Steve grew up learning the value of hard work and perseverance—qualities that would define his life. On August 11, 1973, he married Linda Arbuckle, and together they shared 52 years of love, laughter, and steadfast partnership. She survives.

Early in his career, Steve worked for Essex Wire in Fowler before joining Quality Foods in Watseka, IL. There, he started as a meat cutter, but through hard work, Steve advanced through the ranks to management before retiring after 40 years with the company.

Outside of work, Steve enjoyed fishing, playing video games, and watching sports. He faithfully watched the Cubs and Purdue games, celebrating their wins and lamenting their losses with equal passion.

Those who knew Steve may have described him as stubbornly independent, quick with a joke, and deeply loyal to those he cared for. He loved animals and managed to acquire a few furry friends along the way. Though life brought challenges, Steve met them in his own determined way—steady, strong, and true to himself.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a step-son, Scott Tinsman, and grandson, Brandon Tinsman. Surviving are his wife, Linda, step-son, Bryan (Tina) Tinsman of Folwer, two sisters, Karen Sue (Dennis) Knowels, and Tami (Ed) Carden, both of Earl Park, a sister-in-law, Carolyn Sue Arbuckle, three brothers-in-law, Keith Arbuckle, of North Carolina, Stan Arbuckle of South Carolina, and Mark (Beth) Arbuckle, of South Carolina, a great-granddaughter Laurissa Trapp, and several nieces and nephews who will miss him deeply.

In keeping with his wife’s wishes, no services are planned at this time. A graveside service and interment will be held at a later date.
