On July 4, 2026, Roy Raymond Cripe passed away peacefully at home, with his wife of 39 years by his side.

Roy was born on September 21, 1951, in Watseka, Illinois, to Raymond and Marion (Magruder) Cripe. While attending Indiana University, he earned his Associate’s degree before being drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, serving his country while stationed in Okinawa.

Upon returning home, Roy worked for Essex Wire before beginning a long, successful career with Union Carbide (later Viskase). He started as a mechanic, but his hard work and sharp mind took him all the way to Plant Manager. His career took him and Patti to Mexico from 2005 to 2013 to help set up a new facility, and later to Arkansas, before he finally retired and returned home to Indiana.

It was at Viskase in 1986 that Roy met the love of his life, Patti Northcutt. He worked up the courage to ask her to dinner in October, they were engaged by December, and they spent the next nearly four decades building a beautiful life together.

Roy was a good-hearted, fun-loving guy who kept things simple. He was always up for a game with friends, loved cheering on IU and the Indianapolis Colts, and showed up for the people he cared about—with a helping hand when he could, and sound advice when he couldn't.

Roy is survived by his beloved wife, Patti Cripe; his siblings, Merrilee (Lonnie) Kintner, Shawn (Dawn) Cripe, and Shane (Anita) Cripe; and the nieces and nephews he loved immensely. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Ruth Briles and John Cripe.

The next time you find yourself tossing a game of cornhole or watching a kickoff, know that Roy is right there with you, cheering along.

Roy's care has been entrusted to Gerts, Windler & Keller Funeral Home ~ Fowler Chapel | 506 E Main St Fowler, IN 47944 | (765)864-0110 | www.KellerFH.com
