Rosemary E. (Anderson) Weist, 82, died October 22, 2023. Rosemary is survived by her husband William B. Weist, son Sean, daughter Cindy, siblings Philip (Marilynne) Anderson, Barbara Anderson, Sandra (Ron) Zimmerman, Russell Noel (Rosana) Anderson, and sister-in-law Irene Conner. She was preceded in death by brother Gilbert Anderson and youngest sister Gwendolyn Reagan. Bill and Rosemary celebrated 60 years of marriage in April of this year.
Rosemary was born in Lafayette, Indiana to Russell and Monica Anderson on May 19, 1941. She was raised in Earl Park where she attended St. John’s elementary school, graduating from Earl Park High School in 1959, and St. Vincent School of Nursing in Indianapolis in 1962. Shorty after being married, she accompanied Bill on deployment to Japan with the US Air Force; after a few more moves settling back in Fowler in 1971.
In addition to helping and advising many people in the community on medical issues outside of work, she was employed as Benton County elementary school nurse, and later for many years as the primary nurse for Dr. Donald McKinney at Otterbein Medical Arts. She served for several years on the board of the Benton County Country Club, and on the board of trustees and as a nurse for the Jennie E Caldwell Memorial Home.
She engaged in all kinds of home improvement projects to their house on 5th Street years before that was popularized by TV shows; as well updating, decorating, and gardening and landscaping at their current home.
Rosemary passed on a love for music from her father to her children, supporting her daughter Cindy from music lessons at an early age through activities in band at Benton Central High School and Butler University. She also enjoyed singing in the Sacred Heart Church choir and attending musicals and classical concerts.
She was an avid traveler accompanying husband, family, and friends on various trips throughout the US and abroad; including travel to Israel with her sisters, several cruises with her husband including Alaska, Panama, and family trips to Ireland and a 50th anniversary tour along the Mediterranean coast. Her other adventures included participating in an obstacle race with her daughter in her 70s, and hang-gliding off a mountain in Tennessee at age 74.
