Max Albert Garriott, age 91, formerly of Fowler and Chalmers, IN passed away on Wednesday, January, 29, 2025 at Creasy Springs Legacy Unit in Lafayette with family at his side. Max was born on January 8, 1934 in Benton County, IN to the late Perry Elmer and Iva Fern (Blankenship) Garriott. He attended Freeland Park High and graduated from Gilboa High in Remington, IN, Class of 1952 as a “damn good basketball player” once scoring 45 points in one game! 

 On July, 28, 1956, in Dunnington, IN, Max married the love of his life, Marilyn Ann (Thompson) who passed away on November 3, 2016. Max was a lifetime farmer, raised hogs, was a Ferguson Equipment enthusiast and knew everyone! 

Max was a United States Army Veteran serving from November 15, 1956 to October 31, 1962. He was a member of AM VETS Fowler, IN and a devoted member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church Dunnington. Max enjoyed farming, antique Ferguson tractors and equipment, Purdue basketball, corn husking contests, auctions and his donkeys. He cherished the fishing trips with his wife, Marilyn and his Father and Mother-in-law, Russell and Myrtle Thompson as well as his fishing buddies.

 Max is survived by, sisters Janice Winger (Carl) of Brookston, Mackenzie Blu of Henderson, NV; one brother, Douglas Garriott of San Antonio, TX, two sisters-in-laws, Susan Carol Scheurich of Lafayette, Barbara Sondgerath (Dennis) of Fowler, one brother-in-law, Donald Hardebeck of Wolcott, numerous nieces and nephews including special niece, Denise Emond (Kerry) of Wolcott, who he entrusted his care in his final years.

 He is preceded in death by; his wife, Marilyn; parents, Perry and Iva Garriott; brothers and sisters; Betty Tab, Elvin “Aub” Garriott, Lulu Belle Cole, Donald Garriott, Gerald Garriott, Joan Cerny, Gordon Garriott, Franklin Garriott; brother-in-law, Art Scheurich and sister-in-law, Sharon Hardebeck. 

 Visitation will be Friday, February 7, 2025 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm (EST) with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:30pm (EST) at the funeral home.. A Mass of Christian of Burial will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 10:00am (EST) at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Dunnington, 2961 IN-71, Ambia, IN 47917. Interment with Military Rites will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery with Fr. Sean Aaron officiating.
