John "Jack" Reed Lawrence

John “Jack” Reed Lawrence, 73, of Brook, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis, IN.

Jack was born September 22, 1948 to Gaylord and Ardis Lawrence and was the oldest of five children. He graduated from Brook High School in 1966 and joined the Navy where he served during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1972.

In 1973, Jack married Peggy Dye of Kentland. The two enjoyed spending time traveling, camping, and having game night with friends.

In 1985, Jack and Peg welcomed their first-born son, Seth. Then, in 1992, their family was complete with the birth of their second son, Colin.

Later in life, Jack became a grandfather to Addilyn, Ryan, and Maren.

Jack was a lifelong resident of Brook. He was a farmer for the entirety of his life and worked as a mechanic for many years. He was also an avid joke teller. He was happiest spending time with his family and going to farm shows with his sons and grandson.

Jack is survived by his wife, Peg, children Seth (Dana), Colin, and 3 grandchildren. He is also survived by his parents, Gaylord and Ardis and four siblings, Dave, Marilyn, Bob, and Linda.

Jack will be remembered for his sense of humor, friendly demeanor, and easy-going spirit.  Memorials may be made to Brook United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be Monday, June 20th from 5-7pm and the funeral will be Tuesday, June 21st at 11am both at Brook United Methodist Church. Burial will follow the funeral at Riverside Cemetery in Brook with military honors. Arrangements entrusted to:
