John Dixon Parker, 64, of Goodland passed peacefully Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Hospice at Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, IN. His passing follows a 22 year struggle with end-stage lung disease. John is preceded in death by his father John, mother Mary ,and sister Carla. He is survived by his sisters Linda (David) Ranz and Lisa (Pete) Berger, nephew Paul (Mary) Ranz, nieces, Carla Ranz and Becca (Mitch Sauvageau) Ranz of Tennessee, aunt, Jean and uncle, Don Cowan of Waynetown, Indiana, several cousins, 2 great nephews and a great niece as well as a host of extended family and friends.
John was born April 21,1958 in Indianapolis and graduated from South Newton High School in 1976. He then went on to attend Indiana University and the University of Tennessee. He had a passion for hiking and loved living in Denver, Colorado until his lungs would no longer allow it. He also loved listening to music and watching sports of all kinds, especially Indiana basketball. He was an avid reader of history and enjoyed cooking (and eating). Despite living with debilitating genetic lung disease, John had a love for life and an amazingly optimistic outlook. He will be missed. Visitation will be held January 7, 2023 from 11am until the funeral hour at 12pm at the funeral home. Procession to interment will be immediately thereafter to Goodland Cemetery.
