Harold E. “Hedy” Honn

Harold E. “Hedy” Honn, 91, of Brook, Indiana, passed away peacefully in his home on November 17, 2022. He was married to Maxine Richards on July 3, 1954. They were married for 68 years and had 5 wonderful children together.

Hedy served in the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. For his military service and accomplishments, he was awarded The Korean Service Ribbon with two Bronze Service Stars, The Combat Infantry Badge, The United Nations Medal, The National Defense Service Medal, and The Bronze Star Medal.

Hedy worked at Blaw-Knox for 35 years until he retired. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family, grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Hedy is survived by four children, Cheryl (Terry) Eib, Deb Wilson, Ken (Terry) Honn, and Dave (Carolyn) Honn; son-in-law, Ernie McElory; 18 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 44 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Hedy was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda McElroy; son-in-law, Jim Wilson; 2 granddaughters, 1 great-granddaughter, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; his parents, Harry and Opal Honn; his siblings, Lloyd Honn, Marion Honn, Phylis Triplett, and Ronnie Honn.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 from 11:30am to 12:00pm (CST) at the funeral home with visitation from 10:00am (CST) until the funeral hour. Hedy will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Brook, Indiana with refreshments to follow at First Christian Church in Brook.
