Farris "Dale"" Sharp

1948-2026

October 16, 2026 Farris "Dale" Sharp, 78, died after battling cancer for several months. Parker and Gladys Sharp, a young Colorado couple, gave birth to their first child on September 14, 1948. In 1951, Dale's parents, along with baby brother Doyle, moved to Benton County Indiana.

Dale graduated from Boswell High School (class of 1967) into a "Have you served in the military yet?," world. He didn't wait to be drafted, but joined the Army later that year. Since he joined, he had "options." He tested high and was accepted into the John F. Kennedy School of Warfare at Fort Bragg, NC. He graduated a member of the Army Special Forces, Green Berets.

After the service, a good job waited for Dale in his native Colorado. There he worked but also put himself through college and graduate school, finishing with a master's degree. Dale worked in the aviation technology industry for many years.

Restless, he moved back to Indiana when his dad's health began failing. There he met and on August 1, 1992, married his love Sandra Schlundt of Michigan City. Dale and Sandy moved to Danville Illinois and Dale worked for Danville Metal Stamp for a several years. He then decided to see the USA in a freightliner, self-employed, moving down the road, wind in his hair... (well, maybe not). Dale retired in 2021.

At Christmas Dale shared with his family about a recent cancer diagnosis. He now joins his mother, father and younger brother Doyle, all going before him. Dale leaves behind his lovely wife Sandy, a daughter Angila (husband Charles) of Michigan City, a son Brendan (wife Bernadine) of Loveland, CO., three grandsons, and two great granddaughters.

There is so much to say about a good man, especially once he stepped aside and let Jesus be Lord of his life. "Run on along, Dale. We'll be along soon."
