Eunice Mae (Cooley) Cyr

Eunice Mae (Cooley) Cyr, 86, of Fowler, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, surrounded by her husband and eight children.

Eunice was born on September 2, 1935 in Dunnington, IN to the late James and Lorena (Besse) Cooley.  Eunice was a loving wife, devoted mother, and practicing Catholic. She graduated from Oxford High School in 1954 and married Leon Cyr on September 7, 1957. She was a member of the Legion of Mary and Knights of the Holy Sepulchre, the Director of Religious Education at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and active in Eucharistic Adoration and many other church activities. Eunice was an avid sports fan. She spent her time watching her children play sports at Benton Central High School and attended Purdue football and basketball games. She was a wonderful cook and baker and generously shared with friends and neighbors. Her hobbies included reading, gardening, playing cards, welcoming new people, and hosting family gatherings.

Eunice is survived by her husband, Leon and their eight children, Tim (Kim) Cyr, Angel (Jon) Leuck, Maryann (Glen) Goedde, Edgar (Lauren) Cyr, Susan (Lou) Alessandrini, Laura (Todd) Roggenbauer, Fr. John Cyr, and Faith (Ryan) Griswold, along with 32 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and her sister, Berneice (Wayne) Oneal.  Eunice was preceded in death by her parents, Lorena and James Cooley, and siblings, Venitta (Bob) Camden, Marvin Cooley, Eldon Cooley, Iva Gene (Joe) Brouillette, and Beverly Sanchez.

A Rosary Service will be held on Friday, July 22, 2022 at the funeral home at 5:00pm with visitation to follow until 7:00pm.  Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fowler with Fr. John Cyr officiating and interment thereafter at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Fowler.  A funeral luncheon at St. Patrick’s Hall in Oxford, IN.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart School in Fowler, IN.  Arrangements entrusted to Gerts, Windler & Keller Funeral Homes ~ Fowler Chapel.
