Dorothy Marlene (Hardebeck) Balensiefer

Dorothy "Marlene" (Hardebeck) Balensiefer, 82, of Remington, went to be with her Lord Thursday, December, 28, 2023 with her family by her side.  She was born May 5, 1941 in Lafayette, the daughter of Everett Adam and Mildred Caroline (Deno) Hardebeck. Marlene attended St. John the Baptist Catholic School and graduated from Earl Park High School in 1959.  Marlene went on to marry William Leo Balensiefer of Brook, IN and enjoyed 51 years of marriage. While in the union, they were blessed with 5 wonderful children. Marlene worked for United Telephone from graduation to 1966.  In 1969, she went to work for State Farm Insurance and retired in 2003 after 44 years. After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with family and traveling as well as playing cards with friends. Her hobbies included trap shooting, bowling and billiards. She will be remembered as a lifelong catholic, always being active in church as a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kentland, IN.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bill and daughter Adah Farney, brother Larry Hardebeck, sister, Dianne Biggs as well as a granddaughter Kyrstin Farney.  She leaves behind, her children, William "Bill" (Cindy) Balensiefer of Earl Park, Zenda (Roger) Lanning of Remington, Heidi (Gary) Hageman of Goodland, Heather (Brent) Waibel of Remington, 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild, sister, Rozella (Rich) Lipke of Denton, TX and Gordon (Cathie) Hardebeck of Dayton, IN as well as a host of nieces and nephews and friends.

A Holy Rosary service will be held at the funeral home at 5pm (EST), Sunday, December 31, 2023 with visitation to follow until 7pm (EST).  Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kentland, IN at 10 am (CST), Monday, January 1, 2024 with Fr. Sean Aaron officiating.  Procession to St. Joseph Catholic cemetery immediately after. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to AutismSpeaks.org.
