Doris Jean Hough (1935–2026)

Doris Jean Hough, 91, of Brook, Indiana, passed away on October 27, 2026, at Franciscan Health Lafayette, leaving behind a void that can never be filled.

Doris was born in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1935 to John and Bertha Ransone. As a child, she enjoyed spending time with her grandparents on their family farm. She had a love for roller skating in her younger years and developed a fondness for caring for cats as she grew older.

Doris was a devoted mother to her two children, Glen Hough and Carrie (Hough) May, who were her pride and joy. She often said that the births of her children changed her life for the better, and they both felt that love through the care, support, and devotion she provided throughout their lives. Her children fondly remember the long nights spent drinking coffee and sharing conversations with their aunts and uncles while growing up, creating memories they would cherish for years to come.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, John and Bertha Ransone, and her loving husband, Harold Hough.

She is survived by her sisters, Janet and Betty; her son, Glen Hough; her daughter, Carrie (Hough) May, and son-in-law, Vincent May.

Doris also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren:

• Jarod Clark and his wife, Megan Clark, and their children, McKinley Mast and Lennox Clark.
• Tony Gramman and his wife, Anna Gramman, and their children, TJ Gramman, Calleigh Gramman, and Joseph Gramman.
• Evan May and his fiancée, Allee Archer, and their daughter, Averie May.
• Dalton May and his wife, Taylor May.
• Kendall May and her daughter, Kelani May.
• Maddie May.
• Austin May.

Doris will be lovingly remembered by her family, whose lives she touched and whose love for her will carry on through generations. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
