Dennis Wayne Knowles, 76, of Earl Park, died December 1, 2025 at his home following a long illness. He was born September 2, 1949, in Lafayette, IN to the late Raymond and Nannabelle (Brown) Knowles. He spent 45 years with his wife Karen (Carden) Knowles whom he affectionately referred to as “Sweetheart”; she survives.
Dennis had a life full of adventure. At the age of 17 he chose to serve his country and enlisted in the Army. In Vietnam he fought selflessly and heroically, forging friendships that lasted a lifetime. While serving, he was also stationed in numerous European countries and would often share his humorous and personal anecdotes. Dennis was very proud to serve as the commander of the Earl Park Legion Post #455. He felt honored to perform flag ceremonies for local events, parades, and Veteran funerals.
Dennis was hard-working, spending many years in construction and carpentry. He retired in 2014, after 30 years working at Graphic Packaging (Box Factory) in Fowler, IN. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and evenings with his buddies at the Legion. Dennis was a fabulous singer known for breaking out in song at any minute, and he really knew how to tear up the dance floor! He enjoyed evenings with his wife cruising the county, drinking beer and listening to music. In the summertime, you would often find him visiting with neighbors and friends around a picnic table in his yard. He had a kind heart, was a loyal friend, and was dedicated to his family. He was loved immensely by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Karen, Sister, Charlotte, four children, Leslee Schroeder(John), Joey Raines(Elizabeth), Jason Raines(Cathy), and Shannon Flook. He was a wonderful Grandfather to Alan & Kyle Happ, Emily, Hannah & Carly Flook, and Hunter & Dayne Raines. He was an amazing Great Grandfather to Jaxson and Remi Flook. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Les.
