Brook

Dennis “Dennie” Lee Bower, 70, of Brook, passed away from pancreatic cancer on May 23, 2022, in Lowell, IN. He was born in June 1951 to Donald and Rosemary Bower of Beaver City, IN.

Dennis graduated from South Newton High School in 1969, then married Sandra Joy Honn in 1971; they spent their 50 years of marriage residing in Brook, IN. Dennie owned and operated Dennie Bower Construction starting in 1976, retiring in 2022.

Dennie loved spending time with his family and friends, working at his shop, restoring hot rods, and going to auctions and car shows. Dennie was a superior carpenter, a perfectionist in his trade, generous with his skills, talents, and time. He was stubborn and proud to a fault, full of humor and cracking jokes even when it was time to say goodbye.  He is deeply loved by his family, a Godly man, strong in his faith until the very end. His presence will be profoundly missed in his close circle and community.

Dennie is joining his parents and the following family members in heaven: sister, Joyce Small, grandson, Dayton Hornickel, nephews, Derek Bower and Luke Carter, great-niece, Lila Bower.

Dennie is survived by his wife, daughters, Jaime (Robert) Hornickel and Michelle (Stephen) Aguilar, grandchildren, Darion Hornickel, Dawson (Ashley) Hornickel, Logan Fausset, Aiden Aguilar, Layla Fausset, siblings Sharon (Rick) Dick, Steve (Kathy) Bower, Barb Carter, Scott (Vickie) Bower, Amy Erwin, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews and a host of extended family and friends.
An intimate, private graveside service will be held at Oakland Cemetery in Morocco, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the March of Dimes, St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or Mission 22.
