Brian Schwartz

Fowler – Brian “Bubba” Schwartz, 43, of Fowler, passed away at 2:42 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2026, at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis after a courageous battle with brain cancer.

Born March 22, 1983, in Lafayette, Indiana, to Gary and Sue (Pitstick) Schwartz, Brian was a 2002 graduate of Benton Central High School. From his teenage years he worked alongside his family at the Schwartz NAPA Auto Parts. He joined the Benton County Highway Department in 2021, where he proudly drove the road grader—keeping the county’s roads safe and clear for the community he loved.

Brian was a true outdoorsman at heart. He found deep joy in the land—building a pond on the property where he planned to one day build his forever home, and spending countless hours mowing, caring for the grounds, and simply being outside. Those quiet moments of hard work and connection to the earth brought him peace and purpose.

He is survived by his beloved son, Landen; the love of his life, Tara Jungel; his parents, Gary and Sue Schwartz; his brothers, Brent (Jessica) of Fishers and Brad (Libby) of West Lafayette; his sister, Beth (Josh) Ratts of Pine Village; and the nieces and nephews he cherished as his own: Grace, Zach, and Alivia Schwartz; Kaden, Kolby, Kalli, and Greysen Schwartz; and Logan, Hudson, and Brooklyn Ratts.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Vince and Eileen Schwartz and Edwin “Butch” and Genevieve “Jenny” Pitstick; Aunts, Pat Matson and Judy Shoults; Uncles, Ron Reeves, Kenny Shoults and Joe Cackley.

Brian’s life was marked by quiet strength, steady hands, and a deep love for family and the land. He will be remembered for the way he showed up—whether behind the wheel of a grader, tending his property, or wrapping his arms around the people he loved most.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3rd, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. with Father Duquaine officiating. A funeral dinner will follow at Sacred Heart School.
