Billy Joe Reid

Billy J Reid, 81, of Rensselaer passed away Monday, December 25, 2023 at Lafayette Franciscan East. He was born on July 4, 1942, the son of Wilbur and Mary Reid. He was married to Eileen Cook-Reid at the time of his passing, she went to her eternal home, Sunday December 24, 2023, one day prior to him…some say to set the table for him! Bill served in the United States Marine Corp, a time he was very proud of and would enjoy showing you the many treasurers he accumulated over the years. In addition, he held several positions in life from bartender, truck driver, Deputy Town Marshall in Kentland, IN to his favorite, driving the adult disabled for CDC in Rensselaer. He shared a love of trains with his wife Eileen and travelling to Goodland to enjoy time at Camp Wilbur, as he fondly named that corner lot where he grew up. He is survived by his children: Gordon Scott (Abby) Reid of North Port, FL; Christina Lynn (William) Dunham of Harvest, AL; Todd Alan (Annette) Reid of Spencer, IN and Terry Wayne (Tammy) Reid of Mt Summit, IN, Six grandchildren: Janice Reid of Wilkes-Barre, PA; Jessica Reid of Wilkes-Barre, PA; Kayla Dunham (Matthew) Holsomback of Killen, AL; Brittney Dunham (Brad) King of Ardmore, AL; Martha (Seth)  Miller of Gosport, IN; Matthew (Dylan) Reid of Ft Wayne, IN, thirteen great-grandchildren as well as sister, Joan Flink of Escondido, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Bob King and sister, Bonnie Green. Cremation rites have been chosen, with a Celebration of Life to be held on Friday January 5, 2023 at 5pm (CST) with visitation follow until 7pm (CST) at the funeral home.
