It is with the heaviest hearts that we share that Angela D. “Angie” Van Wienen, of Brook, Indiana, made her heavenly transition on July 22nd at 2:29 PM after complications following surgery. She was surrounded by her loved ones.

Born on January 29th, 1956, Angie is preceded in death by her husband and high school sweetheart, David A. Van Wienen, the love of her life. The two of them built a world together that their family still leans on today.

She is survived by her children: Jamie (Brook, IN), Jeffery (Sheldon, IL), Joseph and his wife Jackie (Brook, IN), and Joshua (Williamsburg, VA). Her grandchildren — Dustin, David, Tyler, Alexis, and Abigail — were her pride and joy, along with several great‑grandchildren she proudly bragged about to anyone who would listen.

Angie adored her late husband Dave, her family, and her friends. She also loved her “crazy” dog Addy and her two cats, Brady and Callie. Her passions included reading, ordering absolutely everything from Amazon, eating chocolate, crafting, and supporting local shops.

She loved sunflowers, her sweet neighbors, Mama Dee, and the Walmart pharmacy ladies in Rensselaer. Angie had an enormous heart and was fiercely protective of the people she cared about. One afternoon spent with her — or even a nightly phone call — could put the world back together and give you the courage to face anything. She had a legendary potty mouth and a sense of humor that could make anyone laugh, even on their hardest days. She told the truth, she told it loudly, and she told it with love.

Our hope is that you remember Mom fondly, and that you take a moment to call the people you love and tell them so. We only have today.
