John Martin, 67, was born October 1, 1955, to Merle and Loretta (Zimmer)Martin in Watseka, Il. He lived in Goodland most of his life and went to South Newton High School Class of ‘75.
He married Renee French Martin December 8, 1973, In Goodland. They would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this year.
He began working for Griffith Foods in November of 1973 until he retired with Dupont in 2018 (same place), having worked there for 45 years! He was a lead man on nights.
He leaves behind, sons, Steve Martin (Rose) of Burlington, In. and Joshua (Heide) of Wabash, 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, who he loved spoiling.as well as 9 brothers and sisters who he loved very much.
Preceding him in death: his parents, daughter, Melissa Martin, granddaughter Brianne Martin, brother, Sam. 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, who he loved spoiling.
He enjoyed boating, fishing, his trucks and loved his dogs, Taco and Bob.

Visitation will be held, Monday, Sept,11, 2023 from 10:00am to 12:00pm (CST) at the funeral home followed by a graveside service at 12:30 (CST) at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Goodland with Fr. Sean Aaron officiating. If you have a Cubs shirt, please wear it, if not, casual is preferred. A dinner will be held immediately after at the Goodland Community Center.
